Krishnan Chatterjee is a multi-disciplinary strategic marketer with experience straddling across consumer goods (B2C) and technology (B2B) industries. Currently, Senior Vice President and Head of Strategic Marketing at HCL Technologies (HCLT), he is acknowledged for incubating the global marketing team and evolving a differential positioning for HCLT. Krishnan joined HCLT in December 2004. He has been responsible for building marketing strategy and infrastructure to propagate demand creation, thought-leadership stature for HCLT and superior customer experience. He has managed to create a distinctive identity for HCLT by leveraging the EFCS (Employees First Customers Second) management idea. HCLT has gained a significant share of voice in print and digital space in his stewardship. Under his leadership, HCLT has been felicitated with some eminent Industry awards for IT services marketing including ITSMA Diamond Award for Targeted Demand Creation in 2009, ITSMA Diamond Award for building client loyalty and trust in 2011 and Forrester Groundswell Award in the Management: Innovation System category in 2011. Krishnan is a member of Paul Writer’s CMO Hall of Fame, a platform that recognizes senior marketers who are developing and enhancing the marketing eco-system in India. The Economic Times, India’s top financial daily spotlighted Krishnan’s illustrious career in ‘Marketing Mavens’ – the publication’s weekly column that profiles top CMOs across India Inc. (link to story) Prior to joining HCLT, Krishnan was with ITC Ltd (India’s largest diversified FMCG major), where he started his career. In the 10-year long stint at ITC across sales and marketing portfolio, he has some distinguished brand launches to his credit, including Wills Lifestyle (a premium apparel retail chain), Wills Sport, John Players (a mass market menswear brand), and 555 (the cigarette brand) in India. More atypically, Krishnan calls himself a frugal/outcome based marketer. Krishnan holds his graduation degree in economics from Presidency College, Calcutta and is an MBA in marketing and strategy from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
